Tieto, ASPIDER-NGI boost Operator business capabilities

By | MVNE, Partner | No Comments

Helsinki, Finland, May 29, 2018. Tieto announced that ASPIDER-NGI is using Tieto network solutions to extend their operator interconnects. ASPIDER-NGI is a provider of independent mobile solutions for managing IoT connectivity.

ASPIDER-NGI delivers and supports voice, data, SMS, multi-IMSI and eSIM products to manage billions of connections. To increase versatility, operators require better 2G and 3G networks to allow better coexistence with 4G and 5G networks. ASPIDER-NGI is therefore extending its core technology to better support old and new generation networks.

Tieto Smart Signalling

By deploying the Tieto smart signaling products, ASPIDER-NGI is able to support a wider range of operators and their various network technologies and transformation from 2G to 5G. The solution also allows ASPIDER-NGI more seamless migration between its existing SS7, SIGTRAN and Diameter infrastructure. The solution is designed to serve various operators’ technology needs and future-proof investments.

“Our IoT business requires that we have the economies of scale to support our clients’ growth independent of the underlying interconnects.” says Jan Mooijman, CEO ASPIDER-NGI. “With Tieto, we can take advantage of the latest technologies and deploy across our global data centers.”

Generation Flexibility

“Despite heavy investments in and focusing on 4G and 5G, 2G and 3G are still the backbone of many operator networks. This means that legacy network technologies need to coexist with the newer generations. Furthermore, the industry demands better interworking between fixed and mobile networks.” says Jörgen Trank, Lead Product Manager, Product Development Services, Tieto. ”We enable the full utilization of network technologies to give operators the best services possible. Our extensive experience is an enabler for future-proof support for everything an operator needs.”

“This is much more than just virtualized addition to our core.” commented Tony Craven, CIO at ASPIDER-NGI. “Tieto provides us more flexibility and security so that our clients can migrate easier between 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. Our clients want to take advantage of multiple interconnects, and migrate on their own schedule often on a country by country basis. And they want control that is independent of the underlying network.”

“Infradata has extensive knowledge of mobile network technology and assisted ASPIDER-NGI with the search for the best solution that fits the ASPIDER-NGI needs.” says Robbie van Rooijen, Infradata. “We also helped with the rollout of the project to support interoperability requirements.”

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control Enables Mobile Service Providers to Differentiate and Monetize Their Brand

Delivers agile online charging for high-growth mobile, cloud and IoT services

Redwood Shores, Calif., February 22, 2018 – Oracle today announced the latest version of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (OCNCC), a key product in their complete digital monetization portfolio which addresses communications, cloud and IoT services. A modern, standards-based online charging system for prepaid dominant mobile markets, OCNCC expands the reach of Oracle’s digital monetization portfolio to help service providers, mobile virtual network enablers (MVNEs) and operators (MVNOs) in high growth markets, introduce innovative and interactive mobile offers to rapidly and cost effectively monetize their brands. Key capabilities introduced in this new release include 3GPP advanced data charging and policy integration together with support for contemporary, cost effective deployments on Oracle Linux.

The pre-paid market for consumer mobile broadband and Intelligent-Network (IN) voice services continues to grow globally. Ovum forecasts1 that the market for pre-paid mobile voice and data subscriptions will grow from 5.5B subscriptions in 2017 to 6.0B subscriptions in 2022 with highest net growth in developing markets. In addition, the GSMA2 estimates there to be almost 1,000 MVNOs globally with more than 250 mobile network operator (MNO) sub-brands, all seeking growth through brand differentiation.

For such operators, OCNCC provides advanced mobile broadband and IN monetization, intuitive graphical service logic design and complete prepaid business management in a single solution. It supports flexible recharge and targeted real-time promotions, complete and secure voucher lifecycle management, and a large set of pre-built and configurable service templates for the rapid launch of new innovative offers. This is a critical as competitive pressures and customer expectations mount, causing service providers to need to rethink their services and how they can increase brand engagement and loyalty. With this evolution in services it’s imperative that underlying charging systems evolve to meet these changing business requirements – across digital, cloud and IoT services.

ASPIDER-NGI Use OCNCC

ASPIDER-NGI builds, supports and operates innovative MVNO and IoT platforms for Operator, Manufacturer and Enterprise sectors. We use Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control as part of our MVNE infrastructure allowing our clients to quickly deploy new mobile data and intelligent network services,” said David Traynor, Chief Marketing Officer, ASPIDER-NGI. “Our clients demand the controls to deliver competitive offerings to specific customer segments and to support their own IoT business models. This release provides us the agility to accelerate our pace of innovation with an online charging platform that supports the latest 3GPP technologies.”

3GPP Compliant

“Oracle Communications NCC aligns with 3GPP Release 14 Policy and Charging Control (PCC) standards, including Diameter Gy data services charging, and supports comprehensive SS7 Service Control (CAP, INAP, and MAP) for IN services. In addition, it supports integration with Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) deployments, including Oracle Communications Policy Management, via the Diameter Sy interface. Such integration provides support for a wide range of value added scenarios from on-demand bandwidth purchases for video or data intensive services to fair usage policies that gracefully reduce mobile bandwidth as threshold quotas are met to ensure an optimal customer experience. Oracle Communications NCC may be deployed in a virtualized or bare metal configuration on Oracle Linux using the Oracle Database to provide a highly cost effective, performant and scalable online charging solution.”

“This major release of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control reiterates Oracle’s continued commitment to provide a complete and cost effective online charging and business management platform for the pre-paid consumer mobile market,” said Doug Suriano, group vice president, Oracle Communications. “With new features including support for policy integration and deployment flexibility on a contemporary, open platform, we are offering our customers a modern alternative to traditional IN platforms enabling them to differentiate and grow their brands, and in turn, delight their customers.”

In addition to Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control, Oracle’s digital monetization portfolio also includes Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management and Oracle Monetization Cloud, which collectively support the rapid introduction and monetization of subscription and consumption based offerings.

ASPIDER-NGI delivers Carrier Billing to 2degrees

19 Feb 2015 | ASPIDER-NGI delivers Carrier Billing Gateway to 2degrees

Netherlands & New Zealand: Feb 19, 2015 – ASPIDER-NGI, a leading MVNE, announced the supply of integrated carrier billing solutions to 2degrees, one of New Zealand’s largest carriers.

ASPIDER-NGI is providing a ‘Carrier Billing Gateway’ to 2degrees Mobile NZ, enabling it to become the first network in the country to allow customers to purchase content from the Google Play platform on their mobile account. The solution allows all 2degrees Android customers to access and pay for Google content such as apps, movies, music and books as well as in-app purchases on their phones in a way that’s faster and simpler. ASPIDER-NGI is a leading MVNE allowing mobile operators to engage their customers with compelling service plans, engaging promotions and innovative content, all designed to build loyalty and increase revenue.

2degrees Chief Marketing Officer Malcolm Phillipps says the partnership is another example how 2degrees is working with innovators to make life easier for its customers. “Our long standing technology partnership with ASPIDER-NGI has enabled us to bring this service to market quickly and with minimum impact on the network and other internal platforms,” he says. “ASPIDER-NGI delivers a solution which seamlessly integrates with our back-end systems for Pre and Post Paid Subscribers, provides simple and powerful customer care functionality and performs the complex reconciliation related to a service like Google Direct Carrier Billing.”

Jan Mooijman, CEO of ASPIDER-NGI said: “Having worked with 2degrees since their launch into the NZ market, we are excited to see them leading the market with carrier billing. “We have developed a multi-tenant carrier billing gateway specifically to enable quick carrier billing integration between the operators and marketplaces like Google Play”.  The approach uses Diameter to integrate charging on the carrier side so the billing integration has low impact on 2degrees. By delivering the solution in a “as a service” model, 2degrees can focus on marketing the service, leaving ASPIDER-NGI to manage and operate the service.
